![]() I was told by others in the original discussion that Bubble UPnP offers this functionality, but it only runs on Android, and I'm in the Apple world.īelow is an image of a listing of the tracks in an album (all my classical works are considered "albums"), with a big green "play" button. ![]() What I was expecting was a big green "play" button that you get in the app when presented with a list of tracks. In addition, I would like to have the albums play in a random order-shuffle play, if you will.īut as I see it right now, when presented with a list of albums (by list) I see no way to simply "play" that list of albums, nor do I see a way to add the list of albums to the current queue, which would also solve the problem. When browsing my music library, I frequently want to listen to all albums by a particular artist, or since Asset UPnP can return a list of albums in a genre, or by artist, I'd like to play that whole list of albums. I use Asset UPnP on a Synology NAS for my music library, and this request related to that browsing experience. I have tried to get this to work without Catwalk (then JR is the "master" and feeds the LinnDS track by track), but I never got gapless playing to work and without Catwalk you only have the current playing track in the Linn DS playlist / display. This discussion started in a different forum, but resubmitting here as an enhancement request. When the whole playlist is in the Linn DS, you can also use the "next", "prev" track buttons of the original Linn DS remote control, you can navigate through the whole playlist with the remote and the Linn DS display. By using Catwalk the Linn DS works as a "master", it has the whole playlist "onboard" and fetches the tracks from the UPnP Server (JR & Catwalk). Using Catwalk & JRemote the stuff works "two way": you can star rate tracks with JRemote while playing and these ratings are stored in the JR database (and in the music files if you want). you cannot rate music tracks with stars while playing. One big advantage of this configuration is: The pure UPnP "Server - Control Point - Renderer" stuff is a "one way street" by UPnP design e.g. Customizable browse tree with advanced search. Jukebox (random) selection, Dynamic Browsing, include / Exclude Genres, or Years with ease. Then you can use JRemote as an remote control for JR (and thus for the Linn DS). Asset features: Designed from the ground up as an audio only UPnP server, Internet Radio: browse popular stations from around the world, Dynamic playlists: find newest, least or most played tracks & albums. If you use Catwalk, then you use the "standard" JR playback mechanism and Catwalk will do the UPnP part for the Linn DS. As with all media servers, you can also compile M3U radio station lists, deposit them somewhere in your music directory, then kick off a rescan and they will be picked up (and you can add them to your playlist in the same way you would add an album track). library and a playlist option, as well as UPNP and various internet streams. Yes, you can use JR as an UPnP server, but then you have to use a "standard" UPnP Control Point (like Kinsky for iPad), but JRemote will not work as an CP for this configuration. 360 media music This tool is a real marketing asset to promote your spaces.
